Description:"Raising Rabbits: An Uncertain Collection" brings together rabbit representations in all kinds of forms like origami, drawings, prints, light projections, archival footage. The project looks at these animals formally, visually, historically, and socially, from the sweet kawaii bunny to the unstoppable plague.
The work draws from a Lucy R. Lippard quote: "Starting an archive is like raising rabbits; no one is really prepared for the numbers or the ramifications." It looks at the urge to archive and how it grows from uncertainty and loss of control.
It also asks why we need models and categories to understand things, even when reality itself, as Borges reminds us in "Funes the Memorious", resists being pinned down, and any framework we build will always be incomplete.
"Raising Rabbits" is a space to think about uncertainty, the drive to archive, and the models we use to make sense of the world. The works on show question how we interpret things and the part we play in making meaning.
